My name is Joseph Jacobs (or Joe for short). I was born and raised in Kajang, Malaysia. I am a doctoral candidate at the Department of Computer Science at University College London (UCL). My primary PhD supervisors are Dr. Eleftheria Panagiotaki and Prof. Daniel Alexander. I am a member of Danny's research group - the Microstructure Imaging Group (MIG) - which is part of the Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC). I am also supervised by Prof. Gabriel Brostow. The title of my doctoral thesis is "Learning Deep Neural Networks with Minimal Data for Enhanching Prostate Cancer Diagnosis".
During my PhD, I did an internship at Tudor Capital Europe as a Quantitative Software Development Intern. Before joining MIG, I was a Software Development Intern and then a Data Scientist at Signal Media (now Signal AI). Prior to that I was a graduate student at UCL, studying for an MSc in Machine Learning. My dissertation project was on the application of machine learning methods for automatically grading prostate cancer from histology, under the supervision of Prof. Alexander and Dr. Panagiotaki.
